Why measurable tours beat 360 images
360 images have been the standard for virtual tours for over a decade. They are easy to produce and perfectly adequate when the purpose is to convey the feeling of a place. But as soon as someone has to make a decision based on what they see, measure a space, plan an installation, order materials, flat images fall short.
Measurements instead of guesswork
A measurable tour is a three-dimensional reconstruction where every point has a real-world coordinate. The recipient can measure the distance between walls, the area of a floor or the height to the ceiling directly in the browser, with the same precision as standing on site with a tape measure. That removes return visits, misunderstandings and assumptions.
The ripple effects
The difference shows most clearly in early stages. An architect can start sketching with correct dimensions from day one. A contractor can take off quantities without travelling out. A landlord can show a unit to a prospective tenant in another city. The visual becomes working material, not just marketing material.
